2 face drug charges after traffic stop in Williamson County

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – Two people face drug charges after sheriff’s deputies pulled over a driver for speeding north of Marion.

Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies say they saw a vehicle speeding on May 29 around 7:08 p.m.

The driver turned eastbound on Longstreet from Illinois Route 37 (just north of Marion).

Deputies stopped the vehicle.

Marranda K. Booten was identified as the driver. Kevin J. Woodrome was a passenger.

During the traffic stop, an assisting deputy deployed his K9 Partner “Shadow” to do a free air snife. The KY alerted to the odor of narcotics coming from the vehicle.

They searched the vehicle and say there found discarded plastic baggies containing a white crystal-like residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Deputies search Woodrome and say they found a plastic prescription pill bottle containing Burprenorphine/Naloxone 8mg/2mg, a schedule 3 controlled substance in his pants pocket.

They say the pill bottle was labeled for un unrelated presription.

Kevin J. Woodrome faces charges of possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Marranda K. Booten faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding.

They were taken to the Williamson County Jail.
