2 face drug charges in Hazel

HAZEL, Ky. (KBSI) – Two people face drug charges in Hazel, Kentucky.

Sammie Smock, 40, of Hazel, Ky. faces charges of trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense less than 2 grams methamphetamine/enhanced (Class C felony), possession of controlled substand 2nd degree-hallucinogen, illegal possession of legend drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing governmental operations.

Ricky Craig King, 44, faces charges of trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offense less than 2 grams methamphetamine/enhanced (Class C felony), tampering with physical evidence (Class D felony), possession of controlled substance 2nd degree-hallucinogen, illegal possession of legend drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Narcotics detectives with the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on Barnett Street in Hazel around 6 p.m. on August 27.

Two people were at the home.

Sheriff’s deputies say Sammie Smock would not comply with detectives’ commands initially but was eventually placed in custody.

Deputies say Ricky King was found trying to dispose of illicit drugs.

Both were taken to the Calloway County Detention Center.
