2 face drug, other charges after sheriff’s deputies investigation stolen dirt bike

NEW MADRID COUNTY, Mo. (KBSI) – Two people face drug and other charges in New Madrid County after sheriff’s deputies investigated a stolen dirt bike.

Tatyana Wheatley, 31, of Dexter faces charges of distribution of controlled substances and felony stealing. Her bond is set at $50,000 cash (10% allowed).

David Wilburn, 34, of Matthews faces charges of distribution of controlled substances, unlawful possession of illegal firearm and five counts of unlawful use of a firearm. His bond was set at $50,000 cash only.

The New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office received information on September 4 that a stolen dirt bike may be on County Road 803.

The information provided said that the dirt bike was in the process of being sold at that time.

An investigative team from New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office, New Madrid Police Department, Matthews Police Departmenr and the SEMO Drug Task Force assembled to investigate.

Officers say they found multiple suspects outside the home and saw the stolen dirt bike.

The dirt bike was confirmed to be stolen out of Cape Girardeau County.

Officers also saw a handgun with what appeared to be a homemade suppressor and a 3-D printed gun frame. Officers detained the suspects for further investigation.

Officers developed probable cause and applied for a search warrant on two homes.

The search warrants were granted.

During the search, officers say they found approximately 61 grams of methamphetamine, multiple firearms, drug paraphernalia with packaging supplies and a 3-D printer that was used for manufacturing illegal firearms.

This investigation continues.

More arrests are expected.
