PUXICO, Mo. (KBSI) – Two people face endangering the welfare of a child charges after a sheriff’s deputy responded to a home in Stoddard County.

Cordale Van Stratton and Hannah Elizabeth Stratton each face two counts of endangering the welfare of a child second degree.

A sheriff’s deputy went to their home on Thursday, February 1 and saw “in-humane living conditions.”

A toddler boy was seen in a dirty crib with no sheet with the dirty mattress exposed and “flies all over the child,” according to court documents.

A toddler girl had “stringy, unwashed brown hair, which appeared dirty and uncombed. It appeared to be dog feces was in the child’s hair,” according to court documents.

The mother, Hannah, was at the home. The father refused to come to the scene saying “he had a bad temper.”

Used and open dirty diapers were seen on the couch and floor. Trash from an open trash bag was scattered through the house. Dirty dishes and uneaten food was left out with flies everywhere, according to the probable cause statement.

The girl was walking around on the couch and floor barefoot through dog feces on the floor.

A dog was seen catching and eating a cockroach that crawled on the living room floor.

The responding deputy noted that a shelf above the toddler’s crib had several heavy containers that appeared to be in a dangerous location.

A strong odor of dog feces could be smelled through the house.

Both Cordale and Hannah Stratton were arrested.
