2 ‘higher level drug dealers’ arrested in Graves County

GRAVES COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – Graves County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two men that deputies call ‘higher level drug dealers’.

Antonio D. Jackson, 37, of Links Lane in Mayfield faces charges of felony fleeing or evading police, trafficking in crystal methamphetamine over 10 pounds.

Ivy S. Daniels, 38, of Graves County faces charges of trafficking in a 1st degree controlled substance (meth) 2nd or subsequent offense and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A several months-long investigation by multiple law enforcement agencies in western Kentucky culminated Tuesday morning leading to the arrest of what Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden calls two higher level drug dealers.

Agencies participating in the investigation include the United States Postal Inspector, sheriff’s offices from McCracken, Graves, Ballard, and Calloway, municipal police departments from Paducah, Mayfield, and Murray, and the Paducah office of the Drug Enforcment Administration.

Jackson is accused of trafficking in large quantities of crystal methamphetamine in Mayfield and other communities in the Purchase area of western Kentucky.

Sheriff Hayden says Jackson accepted large shipments of methamphetamine at his Mayfield home and distributed to smaller dealers in the area.

He says several undercover operations recently confirmed Jackson’s involvement as being the supplier to smaller dealers.

In all, more than 10 pounds of crystal methamphetamine was seized during the investigation.

Sheriff Hayden says it will be used as evidence at trial against Jackson and others involved in the illegal distribution, most likely at some point in federal court.

Tuesday, April 16 around 11 a.m. arrest and search warrants had been obtained and the arrests began in Graves County.

The McCracken Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and other agencies assisted.

Around 11:20 a.m., Jackson who was under surveillance was stopped at the intersection of KY Hwy. 303 at the Ky 80 intersection.

Fearing that Jackson would attempt to run from authorities, they created a moving roadblock. Jackson’s vehicle made contact with one of the arrest team’s vehicles.

Sheriff Hayden says tried to leave but was successfully blocked in, preventing a chase.

As Jackson was removed from his vehicle, Sheriff Hayden says an approximate 1/4 pound of crystal methamphetamine was found on his lap. U.S. currency was scattered about the front passenger compartment.

Jackson’s Links Lane home was searched after a search warrant where investigators seized evidence of drug trafficking, according to Sheriff Hayden.

Around 12:50 p.m., arrest teams went to another home in the 400 block of Chris Drive. It is located off of KY Hwy. 303 about three miles south of Mayfield.

Daniels was arrested on active arrest warrants charging him with trafficking in crystal methamphetamine.

Sheriff Hayden says U.S. currency connected to the drug investigation was also found.

Jackson and Ivy both have extensive criminal records.

Ivy has prior criminal felony convictions for methamphetamine and cocaine possession, and trafficking in cocaine (two different times).

Jackson has felony convictions for trafficking in cocaine, tampering with physical evidence, fleeing or evading police on at least three occasions.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on illegal felony firearm charges in McCracken County within a few weeks.

Both men were taken to out of county detention facilities.

These cases will be presented to the United States Attorney’s Office in Paducah for prosecution.

Charges against additional suspect(s) are pending.
