2 men face stolen property, other charges in Calloway County

CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – Two men face multiple charges after Calloway County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residential burglary.
James P. Burress, 46, of Murray faces four counts of receiving stolen property- firearm (Class D felony) and charges of receiving stolen property- $500-$1,000, possession of controlled substance 1st degree, 2nd offense-methamphetamine (Class D felony), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon (Class D felony), possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
David W. Bugden, 46, of Murray faces four counts of receiving stolen property- firearm and charges of receiving stolen property- $500-$1,000 and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Deputies responded to a home on Beat Farm Road on January 27.
The victim told them he arrived to find a door had been pried open and firearms and multiple tools had been taken from the home.
Deputies say they executed multiple search warrants and found some of the stolen items at the home of James P. Burress.
He was arrested on February 6.
Deputies say Burress also possessed illicit drugs.
The items recovered totaled more than $6,000.
Information gathered through the course of the investigation led deputies to obtain an arrest warrant for David W. Bugden who was arrested on Feb. 8.
Both men are convicted felons.
Burress had felony drug charges in 2018.
Bugden was out on bond from a felony case in November of 2022. He became a convicted felon in 2018 on drug and theft charges.
