2 pedestrians hit by train in Du Quoin

DU QUOIN, Ill. (KBSI) – Two people are injured after they were hit by a train in Du Quoin early Tuesday morning.

Du Quoin police officers responded to the railroad crossing on Main Street at 1:07 a.m. on January 2.

The Du Quoin Fire Department and Pinckneyville Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.

Officers found two people with significant injuries. Both people were taken to Marshall Browning Hospital. Then, they were taken to other hospitals by helicopter.

An Amtrak passenger train was involved, according to Du Quoin Chief of Police Steve Ingram.
