2 pedestrians hit, die in separate crashes in Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (KBSI) – A crash reconstructionist with Illinois State Police is investigating two deadly crashed involving pedestrians in Mount Vernon.

The first crash happened February 9 around 8:35 p.m. in the 4200 block of Mt. Vernon.

Mt. Vernon police responded. A pedestrian was taken to a local hospital and declared dead.

ISP handled it. Accident reconstruction division.

The second crash happened at 9:32 a.m. Monday, February 12.

Police received multiple calls a pedestrian hit in the 4300 block of Broadway.

Mount Vernon fire, police and ambulance responded.

The person was taken to hospital and declared dead.

ISP reconstructionist responded to the scene.

A preliminary investiation incidates that a driver was traveling eastbound on Broadway when the vehicle struck a pedestrian.

Police are working with the reconstructionist with ISP to determine if the pedestrain was walking in road before the crash.
