2 people arrested for possession of meth with the help of a K9

MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – Two people face drug charges after a traffic stop in Williamson County.

Scott L. Essary faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and no registration light.

Morgan B. Tarr faces charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies say they noticed a car commit multiple traffic violations and conducted a traffic stop on August 8.

During the traffic stop, a K9, Shadow, arrived and indicated a positive alert to narcotics. When officers told the occupants to exit the vehicle, they noticed one of the passengers, Morgan Tarr, concealing an unknown item in her jacket pocket.

After deputies conducted a probable cause search, they say they found the plastic bag to have 1.4 grams of methamphetamine.

The driver, Scott Essary, then informed police there was methamphetamine in the center console of the vehicle.

After a search of the vehicle, police later located the drug along with paraphernalia.

Both Scott Essary and Morgan Tarr were taken to the Williamson County Jail.
