Zalma R-V School District cancels classes for remainder of week after storm
BOLLINGER & MADISON COUNTIES, Mo. (KBSI) – Zalma R-V School District canceled classes for the rest of the week as the district continues to clean up after a severe storm Sunday night.
Superintendent Gerard Vandeven says they are still working to restore electricity and internet to the elementary school which they do not anticipate being restored by the end of the week. There is also work to temporarily secure the gymnasium until repairs can be made.
Zalma Parents and Community:
School personnel and community members are still working to restore electricity and internet to our elementary school. We have completed most of the storm cleanup and are working to temporarily secure the gymnasium until such time as repairs/renovations can be completed. At this time we do not anticipate power being restored to the elementary before the end of the week. Because of this, we will, unfortunately, have to close school for the remainder of the week. We will most likely make up these days on November 22nd and 23rd and December 20th and 21st. We regret having to change scheduled holiday breaks, however, we need to recoup these days in order to prepare for more days we may miss during the Winter months. A revised school calendar will be posted next week once we make final decisions on make up days. We are also working to reschedule our final few junior high basketball games during the next couple weeks. Thanks to everyone who has helped out with storm cleanup these past 2 days. Rest assured that we are making every effort to get our students back in school ASAP. Your continued patience and understanding is greatly appreciated.
