2 Symsonia residents arrested after drugs found in Graves County home with small child
SYMSONIA, Ky. (KBSI) – Two Symsonia residents face charges after a drug investigation in McCracken County led to a home north of Symsonia.
The Graves, McCracken, and Carlisle Sheriff’s Offices and Kentucky State Police executed a search warrant around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, June 8 at a home in the 12,000 block of Hwy. 131, which is located about a mile north of the Symsonia 4-Way.
More than one pound of crystal methamphetamine and more than a half pound of processed marijuana were seized. Authorities also seized U.S. currency belived to be proceeds of illegal drug sales and other related items.
Two people who live at the home were arrested. One suspect has “an extremely lengthy criminal record for felony drug trafficking,” according to Sheriff Jon Hayden.
Joshua B. Hill, 34, faces charges of trafficking in a 1st degree controlled substance (meth) 7th offense, trafficking in marijuana over 8 ounces, wanton endangerment and other related charges.
A small child in the home was released to a relative.
Felony quantities of illegal drugs were found in areas accessible by the small child that resulted in the wanton endangerment charges being filed.
Hill’s extensive criminal history includes felony convictions for three counts of trafficking in cocaine that he was sentenced for in May 2015. He was sentenced in March 2012 for trafficking in cocaine and trafficking in marijuana and cocaine sentenced in March 2012, and again, He was sentenced for trafficking in cocaine and felony fleeing from law enforcement in March 2008.
Hill’s 2018 Dodge Challenger was also seized as part of this investigation. Sheriff Hayden says Hill was delivering and selling crystal methamphetamine in the Symsonia area Wednesday evening while driving that vehicle.
Jessica R. Shimerda, 34, of Symsonia faces charges of wanton endangerment related to felony drugs being located in the home that was easily accessible by a small child in the home. She also faces charges of trafficking in both methamphetamine and marijuana.
This investigation continues in both Graves and McCracken counties.
Hill and Shimerda were taken to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office and later taken to out of county detention facilities.
