Deputies with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office tried to serve an arrest warrant in the 12000 block of Binkley Road in Williamson Couty around 11:14 p.m. on Aug. 3.
The arrest warrant is the product of a previous search warrant which was executed on May 22 at the same address.
Deputies approached the front door of the home and saw Jena K. Thompson, the subject of the arrest warrant, in plain view actively consuming methamphetamine, according to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
Thompson was arrested on the outstanding arrest warrant for delivery of methamphetamine 15g-100g and taken to the Williamson County Jail. She was being held on a $500,000 bond.
While deputies arrested Thompson another woman was present.
While conducting a protective sweep of the home, a child under the age of 12 was found in a hot, dilapidated, bug infested attic sleeping on the floor, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies says they saw an open and unkempt cat litter box full of feces in the kitchen as well as used dishes with food filling the sink and counter top that had attracted bugs, a refrigerator containing maggots, rotten food, and a large amount of an unidentified fluid.
Due to sleeping conditions, the open use of narcotics in the presence of a juvenile, the overall condition of the house, and the potential health risk to the juvenile’s well being, the juvenile was immediately taken into protective custody.
Head was arrested and taken to the Williamson County Jail.
Concerns regarding the juvenile have been referred to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services for further investigation.
After securing the home Williamson County Sheriff’s dputies obtained a new search warrant. During the execution of that search warrant, deputies recovered methamphetamine, drug packaging materials, digital scales and drug paraphernalia.
