2nd suspect wanted in connection with shooting at Cape Girardeau apartment complex
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – A second suspect is wanted after a shooting injured two people at an apartment complex in Cape Girardeau on Tuesday.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Markitrey Shemaj West, 22, on charges of a Class D felony of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and Class E felony of resisting arrest.
One suspect was arrested Tuesday.
The Cape Girardeau Police Department was advised of a shooting Tuesday at 12:57 p.m. at Legends Apartments located at 2070 North Sprigg Street in Cape Girardeau.
When officers arrived on scene they were told two shooting victims were taken to a local hospital by a private vehicle. One victim has moderate injuries and one has serious injuries, according to police.
Two alleged suspects were reportedly seen leaving the area in a vehicle traveling south on Sprigg Street. Officers chased the suspect vehicle into Illinois and one juvenile suspect was taken into custody near Mounds, Illinois.
West is not in custody.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office, Southeast Missouri State University Department of Public Safety, Alexander County, Illinois Sheriff’s Office and Illinois State Police are assisting in the investigation.
