3 arrested, face drug charges in Mt. Vernon

MT. VERNON, Ill. (KBSI) – Three people were arrested and face drug charges after the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Joint Narcotics Unit and Mt. Vernon patrol officers served two search warrants overnight Friday, Feb. 11

The search warrants and arrests are the results of on going investigations by the narcotics unit. Members of the Joint Narcotics Unit, Mt. Vernon Police Department detectives and Mt. Vernon patrol officers served a Jefferson County search warrant at 628 White Avenue in Mt. Vernon.

During a search of the home, detectives found cocaine and packaging materials, according to the Mt. Vernon Police Department.

Amber K. Jones, 37, was taken into custody on charges of aggravated Possession of 1-15 grams of cocaine with intent to deliver.

While detectives were still at the Jones home a vehicle arrived. Detectives and officers made contact with those inside the vehicle identified as Timothy S. Washington, 40, and Glen M. Ford, 50. Both men were in possession of crack cocaine and taken into custody, according to the Mt. Vernon Police Department.

Detectives obtained a second search warrant for Washington’s home located at 402 Herbert in Mt. Vernon. Detectives and patrol officers served the second search warrant at 11:18 p.m. on Friday, February 11. Detectives found currency, crack cocaine, cocaine and packaging materials, according to the police department.

Ford was taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center on a charge of possession of a cocaine. Washington faces charges of resisting arrest, possession of 1-15 grams of cocaine with intent to deliver, and possession of 15-100 grams of cocaine with intent to deliver. All three were taken to the Jefferson County Justice Center with bond to be set.
