3 face charges after police chase leads to Herrin home

HERRIN, Ill. (KBSI) – Three people face charges after a police chase led to a home in Herrin.

On December 17, 2023, at 11:23 p.m., Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies saw a vehicle commit a traffic violation near the intersection of Illinois Route 148 and Herrin Road.

The deputies tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver failed to stop and continued traveling until it came to rest at a home in the 700 block of North 14th Street in Herrin.

Deputies identified the driver as Brandon T. Elders. He was known to deputies from prior law enforcement contact.

Deputies saw Elders to have a loss of small motor functions as he tried to retrieve his identification from his wallet as well as a pronounced shaking and trembling of his hands, according to Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies.

During the traffic stop a K9 arrived on scene and conducted a free air sniff which resulted in a positive alert to the odor of narcotics.

Two additional people in the vehicle were identified as Tiffany M. Barnes and Brandon S. Partee. Both Barnes and Partee were known to deputies from prior law enforcement contact.

Deputies conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle and found a digital scale with residue which later field tested positive for methamphetamine, a holster for a handgun, three jars containing cannabis, a second digital scale, a Silver Sig Sauer P320 9mm handgun and two smoking devices with residue which later field tested positive for methamphetamine.

A female deputy searched Barnes and found a bag of methamphetamine on her.

Elder is a convicted felon. He faces charges of possession of a weapon by a felon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and failure to signal when required.

Partee faces charges of possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Barnes faces a charges of possession of methamphetamine.

Elders, Partee and Barnes were taken to the Williamson County Jail.
