3 injured in shooting in Steele

STEELE, Mo. (KBSI) – Three people were injured in a shooting in Steele early Sunday morning.

Police were called to 243 West Main Street on May 1. When the officer arrived, a large group of about 100 people were leaving the scene on foot and by vehicle. Police say they had been attending a party that was hosted by a local resident.

The responding officer found a person with a gunshot wound to his leg. The officer was attempting first aid when several individuals put the victim inside a private vehicle and drove him to a hospital, according to Steele Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield.

A 25-year-old man from Steele, a 27-year-old man from Steele and a 26-year-old man from Blytheville, Ark. were taken to area hospitals by private vehicles. They were treated for their injuries and released from the hospital. The Blytheville man remained in critical but stable condition on Monday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control and investigators with Pemiscot County Sheriff Department are assisting in the investigation.
