4.0 magnitude earthquake reported in Missouri Bootheel, no damage

NEW MADRID, Mo., (KBSI) — A 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck at about 12:59 p.m. in Missouri’s Bootheel along the New Madrid Seismic Zone, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The agency said residents reported feeling shaking across parts of the region, though no damage has been reported.

The New Madrid Seismic Zone is known for producing earthquakes in the central United States, officials said.
