2 earthquakes shake Butler County
WILLIAMSONVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) – Two earthquakes shook southeast Missouri Wednesday night.
A 4.0 and 2.5 magnitude earthquakes were recorded by the United State Geological Survey Wednesday night.
The first 4.0 magnitude quake happened 8:53 p.m. according to the USGS. It was 16.9 kilometers (or 10.5 miles) deep. It was centered 8 kilometers (or nearly five miles) SSE of Williamsville.
The second 2.5 magnitude quake happened at 9:40 p.m. It was 16.1 kilometers (or 10 miles) deep. It was centered just southwest of the 4.0 magnitude quake.
