4 face drug charges after deputies search home in Herrin

HERRIN, Ill. (KBSI) – Four people face charges after Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at a home in Herrin.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on a home in the 1000 block of North 12th Street in Herrin on June 1.

Williamson County Sheriff’s investigators began developing intelligence in January of 2024 which resulted in sufficient probable cause to obtain a search warrant.

They used confidential sources, surveillance and other investigative tools over several months. Deputies concluded that the home was a drug house with significant vehicle and pedestrian traffic arriving and leaving at all hours.

At 2:32 a.m., deputies say they entered the home and found four people smoking methamphetamine in the living room.

The suspects were identified as Joseph E. Sloat, Hannah L. Hanson, Brittanee B. Cockrum and Amber D. Holland.

Investigators searched the home and say they found 5.1 ounces (142.3 grams) of crystal methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging material and drug paraphernalia.

They also seized $459 in United States currency deputies believe were proceeds of illegal drug activity.

A notice of Asset Forfeiture was served to Joseph E. Sloat.

Two of three vehicles parked at the home, which were not part of the search warrant, were towed and impounded after receiving positive K9 alerts to the odor of narcotics. Search warrants for the vehicles are pending.

Joseph E. Sloat faces charges of delivery of methamphetamine 100-400g (a Class X felony), possession of methamphetamine 100-400g (A Class X felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (a Class A Misdemeanor).

Hannah L. Hanson faces charges of possession of methamphetamine 15-100g (A Class 1 felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (A Class A misdemeanor).

Brittanee B. Cockrum faces charges of possession of methamphetamine 15-100g (A Class 1 felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (A Class A misdemeanor).

Amber D. Holland faces charges of possession of methamphetamine 15-100g (A Class 1 felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia (A Class A misdemeanor).

Sloat, Hanson, Cockrum and Holland were taken to the Williamson County Jail.
