Philip Francis is a runner who attended Mary Mingle.

“I wanted to come out and, you know, try to get the last fast 5K before the year ends, but also to be out here to support the Community Counseling Center and what they do at the counties that they serve and the people that they serve. It’s a great cause and it’s local and I’m glad to be here. “

The 4th annual Mary Mingle 5k welcomed 352 people this year, runners like Philip Francis say they are happy to come out and support a good cause.

“So, it’s always great to be out here. Great folks, great course and the two married mingle, you know, Mary Jane’s and Inglewood are great sport and they’re early brunch after this. I will take part in that. “

Debbie Leoni is the President of My Team Triumph and she and her team help to involve all runners.

” I love to get involved in the community races. We love to support the local causes. Just get out and be among the things and be in the middle of it all, which is really what our whole focus relationships and just staying involved in the community. “

The event is sponsored by the Community Counseling Center Foundation, and Michelle Ramsey the Executive Director with the foundation says they couldn’t be happier with the turnout.

It’s amazing to see the turnout. This is the fourth year, and we have exceeded our expectations year after year. But this was a big one. This hit 352 and we had 267 last year” says Ramsey. “So huge improvement and we’re just going to keep growing, seeing all the people run and get in the spirit.”

The event saw 100 more runners this year than last year!

The proceeds from the run help raise money for children with the Community Counseling Foundation, helping them have things like a unique Christmas present just for them under the tree this Christmas.

“Wear their costumes and we are here to have fun. A unique thing about our event. All of the registration fees are designated for gifts for our residential clients, so their caseworkers actually go pick out a specific gift for them” says Michelle Ramsey. “It’s not just everybody gets a tenner popcorn. And so, it’s really fun to see that and to get the feedback from the caseworkers on the clients that they provide those gifts for us. “

Runners say they plan to continue taking part in this festive 5k each and every year.

“Oh, yeah, Yeah, definitely. As long as I’m in the area, this is has become a staple of my race schedule you could say. So, I definitely plan on running this in the future.”

Next year’s race will be held on December 6th, 2025!
