4th of July BBQs could cost less than last year
(KBSI) – In preparation for fourth of July celebrations,
Your barbecue could cost a little less this year, but only slightly.
After months of high inflation, consumers are finally seeing a dip in prices, but it is not the welcome reprieve that many are hoping to see.
Buying the essentials for the fourth of July weekend will still be pricey.
Although inflation is down three percent from last year’s record high, we are still up fourteen percent from 2021.
Prices for hamburger buns and ground beef are still up there.
“Drought across much of the west and Midwest has increased the cost of feed for cattle and reduced the overall number of cattle in the beef supply chain,” said economist Roger Cryan, PhD. “Overall inflation is driving up the cost of processed foods like hamburger buns.”
On the other hand, there is still a sign of progress. Items such as lemonade, chips, and chicken have decreased in cost.
Although these small costs will not come soon enough for the fourth of July celebration.
