4th of July celebrations 2023

(KBSI) – Independence Day is Tuesday, July 4. Several communities are celebrating with firework displays.

Missouri
2023 Great American 4th of July
6-9:15 p.m.
Arena Park
Cape Girardeau, MO
This event features the Southeast Missourian Spirit of America Award presentation and a performance by the Cape Girardeau Municipal Band in the Arena Park Grandstands. Set up a lawn chair or picnic blanket at the fair grounds in Arena Park to view the fireworks show.
- 6:30 p.m. – Arena Park opens
- 7 p.m. – Naturalization ceremony followed by Spirit of America Award and Patriotic Program
- 8 p.m. – Cape Girardeau Municipal Band
- 8:30 p.m. – Mayor Stacy Kinder
- 8:40 p.m. – Southeast Missourian Spirit of America Presentation
- 9 p.m.- Fireworks begin

4th of July Fireworks Display

SIU Campus – Banterra Center
Carbondale, IL
For the best viewing, spectators should park and watch the display frm the Banterra Center parking lots 18 and 56. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early. The main parking lots are typically full and closed by 9 p.m. There will be ice cream, bubble tea, baked treats and shaved ice for sale. Road closures will start at 6 p.m., including parking lots 37 and 52. Cars must be cleared from these areas by 6 p.m. Douglas Drive and Saluki Drive will be closed from Evergreen to Lincoln, and from Douglas to Arena Drive, until after the fireworks display. Parking along Route 51 or other roadways for viewing purposes is prohibited. In the event of rain, the fireworks display will be postponed to Tuesday, July 5, at 9:15 p.m.
