6 face drug charges after arrests at 2 Paducah hotels

PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – Six people face drug charges after they were arrested at two different Paducah hotels on Monday.

Drug detectives with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office investigated complaints at two different hotels on Feb. 21. During the first investigation, detectives investigated a complaint at 2701 HC Mathis Drive in Paducah just before noon. Detectives found Phillip Graff at his hotel room. Detectives searched Graff’s room and seized methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

That same evening detectives and deputies investigated complaints of drug activity at a hotel located at 3901 Hinkleville Road in Paducah. During the investigation, deputies stopped a vehicle leaving the hotel driven by Amy J. Thomas of Mayfield. Thomas was arrested after she and her vehicle were searched and police found methamphetamine, hydrocodone pills, and marijuana, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies stopped another vehicle leaving the same hotel a short time later. Brandon Graham and Sedra Wedel were in the vehicle. A Sheriff’s Office K-9 alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics coming from the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle, deputies found marijuana packaged for sale, drug paraphernalia and a loaded handgun, according to the sheriff’s office. The handgun was found under Graham’s seat. Graham is a convicted felon unable to lawfully possess a firearm. Wedel admitted that she had methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia concealed on her person that she had hidden when the car was being stopped, according to the sheriff’s office. Both Graham and Wedel were arrested and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Detectives obtained search warrants for two different hotel rooms on the property. Two additional people, Jonathon Cash and Kelli Buchanan were arrested during the search warrant service of the hotel rooms. Detectives found and seized methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, smoking pipes, scales, two additional handguns, ammunition, and money ($3,203) believed to be proceeds of illegal drug sales. The investigation revealed that one of the handguns had been reported stolen out of Tennessee.

Kelli Buchanan was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Jonathon Cash is a convicted felon, was on parole at the time of his arrest, and unable to lawfully possess a firearm.

All five people were taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

The investigation continues. Additional arrests are likely, according to the sheriff’s office.

Phillip Graff, 36, of Paducah faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Amy J. Thomas, 43, of Mayfield faces charges of disregarding a traffic control device, trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance-Hydrocodone, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Brandon D. Graham, 24, of Mayfield faces charges of careless driving, trafficking in marijuana, possession of a handgun by a felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sedra Wendel, 21, of Paducah faces charges of tampering with physical evidence, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jonathon Cash, 36, of Mayfield faces charges of firearm enhanced trafficking in methamphetamine 2nd offense, trafficking in marijuana, possession of a handgun by a felon, possession of cocaine, receiving stolen property-firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Kelli Buchanan, 22, of Mayfield faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, along with an unrelated bench warrant.
