7 Sikeston DPS officers graduate from SEMO Law Enforcement Academy

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Seven Sikeston Department of Public Safety officers graduated from the SEMO Law Enforcement Academy on Thursday, December 14.

Trent Mims, Justin Miller, Brittin Western, Jimmy Kinnison, Austin Novak, Dadrian Jones and Phayzun Fobbs graduated from the academy.

The seven were part of a class of 22 new officers that will now police the streets in southeast Missouri.

Three Sikeston DPS graduates also won awards.

Kinnison was a recipient of the Missouri Blue Scholarship. He received $5,000 paid toward the cost of the academy and received an award for perfect attendance. With the perfect attendance award, Kinnison did not have any tardies and was not absent from the academy.

Kinnison also received the E.V.O.C./Driving Award, given to the best driver out of all the students. The instructors set up an obstacle course that is designed for high-speed emergency operations of a patrol vehicle. The course must be run in both daytime and nighttime.

Jones also received the perfect attendance award.

Fobbs earned two awards, winning the physical training award for the most physically fit officer also earning the defensive tactics award.
