Active shooter report prompts evacuation at University of Arkansas library

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., (KBSI) — Police responded Monday to reports of an active shooter at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, prompting the evacuation of Mullins Library, officials said.

The university’s emergency alert system, RazALERT, notified students just before 12:30 p.m. to avoid the area, stating: “Avoid the area of Mullins Library due to an active shooter reported. Avoid. Deny. Defend.”

University spokesperson John Thomas said law enforcement has set up a perimeter around the library, which sits in the center of campus near the Student Union. Fayetteville police are assisting university police in clearing the building.

No injuries have been reported.
