Advance firefighters respond to basement fire; family displaced

ADVANCE, Mo., (KBSI) — Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire early Monday morning in Advance, according to the Advance Fire Department.

Crews arrived to find the basement fully involved in flames and were able to quickly bring the fire under control.

No injuries were reported, but officials said the homeowners were displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary housing and immediate needs.

Mutual aid was provided by the Zalma, Bell City and Bloomfield fire departments, along with the Stoddard County Ambulance District. SEMO Electric also assisted by disconnecting power to the home.

The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
