Advancing Equity, Sustainability, and Growth in Illinois’ higher education system

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (KBSI) – Tomorrow, March 15, the Board will hear presentations on efforts that advance the three goals of the higher education strategic plan – A Thriving Illinois: Equity, Sustainability, and Growth.
Aneesh Sohoni, chief executive officer of One Million Degrees, and Veronica Herrero, chief of staff and strategy at City Colleges of Chicago and IBHE member, will present on scaling a successful student supports partnership.
The Board will then hear a presentation on the growing impacts of the Diversifying Faculty in Illinois program, a program designed to increase the number of minority full-time tenure track faculty and staff at Illinois’ colleges and universities.
The Board will also hear presentations from the Faculty Advisory Council on how faculty can create culturally responsive learning environments to close equity gaps and from the Student Advisory Committee on how faculty and institutions can best meet students’ needs as they work toward degree completion.
