All Jackson R-2 kindergartners to receive book written by former Jackson teacher

JACKSON, Mo. (KBSI) – All incoming kindergarten students to the Jackson R-2 School District will receive a personalized children’s book written by a former Jackson R-2 teacher.

Chelsea Tornetto left the classroom after 17 years to pursue writing fulltime. She writes children’s books and works for an author education company.

Tornetto says, “There’s so much research that shows that, if kids see themselves, in a book, they’re more likely to think of themselves as readers.”

The Jackson R-2 School District now has a personalized children’s book to celebrate our mission which is to graduate life-ready, service motivated citizens with a passion for learning.

Dr. Scott Smith, the Superintendent for Jackson R-II School District says, “Students can start to learn about what they will do for their first day of Kindergarten, all the way through the last day of high school.”

This one-of-a-kind book was written by children’s author and former Jackson R-2 teacher,

Copies of the book will be given to every incoming kindergarten student to commemorate the start of their educational journey at Jackson R-II school district.

The book contains illustrations of Jackson Schools and many other recognizable places.

Other copies will be available for sale to the public soon.
