Ameren Illinois prepares for flooding in Old Shawneetown

SHAWNEE TOWN, Ill., (KBSI) – Ameren Illinois is taking proactive measures to ensure electric service reliability and customer safety in Old Shawneetown due to flooding.

A meeting will be held today at 10:30 a.m. at the Shawneetown Fire Station, 144 E Posey Ave, to discuss the plans.

Ameren Illinois will reroute power to a mobile substation from an existing substation in Old Shawneetown, which will be impacted by floodwaters. The temporary mobile substation will provide power to customers in the area.

Once floodwaters recede, Ameren Illinois will inspect and eventually reroute power back to the existing substation.
