Ameren Illinois prepares for potential flooding in Southern Illinois

SOUTHERN Ill., (KBSI) – Ameren Illinois is monitoring the situation in Southern Illinois, where severe flooding is possible after multiple rounds of rain and severe weather.

The company is particularly concerned about rising floodwaters around Old Shawneetown in Gallatin County, where the Ohio River is expected to crest on Monday.

Ameren Illinois has brought in additional personnel and relocated a mobile substation to the area to maintain power if the main substation is damaged.

The company operates 22 mobile substations that can replace damaged neighborhood substations, reducing power outage lengths and allowing for safe repairs.
