Ameren Missouri expands energy assistance programs for customers
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — Ameren Missouri customers may now qualify for as much as $1,400 in bill payment assistance through a wide range of programs, the company announced.
The expanded aid follows Ameren’s $4 million donation last week to community action agencies, along with $1 million for victims of the May 16 tornado. Local agencies are distributing the assistance.
“We really wanted to step in and do this additional program to help customers get on top of those higher bills we’ve all seen this summer,” said Page Selby, Ameren Missouri’s manager of customer advocacy.
Ameren’s available programs include:
Dollar More: Up to $600 annually for households with past-due bills.
Keeping Cool: Up to $250 in summer energy credits per year, or $350 over two years.
Summer Energy Crisis Intervention Program (ECIP): Up to $300 for customers in financial crisis.
Ameren Energy Relief Grant: A one-time $150 grant for bills of $150 or more.
New Start Energy Relief: Forgives up to $1,000 in past-due bills for customers transitioning out of homelessness.
Veterans Energy Assistance: Up to $600 for active-duty service members and veterans.
Partner agencies include United Way, Cooldownstlouis.org, Cooldownmissouri.org, the Urban League, the Community Action Agency of St. Louis County, North East Community Action Corporation, East Missouri Action Agency and Central Missouri Community Action.
Ameren is also encouraging customers to take advantage of its online tools, including an Energy Usage Dashboard, budget billing, outage alerts and personalized savings recommendations.
