Ameren Missouri expands veterans fund with $25,000 contribution ahead of Veterans Day

ST. LOUIS, Mo., (KBSI) – Ameren Missouri announced an additional $25,000 contribution to its Veterans Fund, bringing the total available assistance to more than $90,000 for active-duty military members and veterans facing challenges with energy bills.

Through a partnership with the United Way, eligible Missouri households can apply to receive up to $600 in support. Applications are open now by calling 2-1-1 or 1-800-427-4626. Applicants must provide proof of veteran or active-duty status and show that they are past due, disconnected, or at risk of disconnection.

“Together with Ameren Missouri, we’re committed to providing the support our veterans need to keep their homes warm and their families safe,” said Michelle Tucker, president and CEO of the United Way of Greater St. Louis.

Since its launch in 2018, the Ameren Missouri Veterans Fund has provided more than $425,000 in energy assistance to over 1,250 military families statewide.

“When our veterans or military families face hardship, we want them to know they are not alone,” said Joe Solari, vice president of customer experience for Ameren Missouri. “This fund is one way we can say thank you and stand beside our military community.”

In addition to the Veterans Fund, Ameren Missouri offers several other energy assistance programs, including:

Ameren Energy Relief Grant: One-time $150 grant for eligible customers with a balance of at least $150.

Dollar More: Up to $600 per year in assistance, funded by community donations. Customers can also contribute $1 or more per month to help neighbors in need.

Clean Slate: For natural gas customers with past-due accounts.

New Start Energy Relief: Up to $1,000 in bill forgiveness for individuals transitioning to permanent housing or seniors at risk of eviction.

Weatherization Assistance: Energy conservation services for qualifying households.
