Ameren offers 6 tips to help customers save energy, money this winter

ST. LOUIS, Mo., (KBSI) — As winter weather continues to impact the Midwest, Ameren is offering six tips to help customers save energy and money.

The tips include:

1. Unplugging unused electronics to avoid standby power consumption.
2. Keeping fireplace dampers closed when not in use.
3. Ensuring heating vents are open and unobstructed.
4. Using area rugs to insulate floors.
5. Switching to LED light bulbs, which use up to 80% less energy.
6. Taking advantage of Ameren’s home energy assessments, which can identify ways to reduce energy usage and costs.

Ameren also offers various energy efficiency and demand response programs across Illinois and Missouri.

“We want our customers to be comfortable and save money on their energy bills,” said Babette Washington, senior manager of energy efficiency programs for Ameren Illinois.
