Ameren warns of scam calls targeting Cape Girardeau, Dexter customers

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Ameren Missouri is warning customers about scam calls reported in the Cape Girardeau and Dexter areas.

The callers falsely claim to represent Ameren and demand immediate payment to prevent the customer’s electrical service from being disconnected, according to the utility company.

Ameren said the calls are fraudulent. Customers who receive a suspicious call should not provide payment or personal information.
