American Melody lands back in Cape Girardeau for the first time this season

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The American Melody cruise ship docks in cape Girardeau today for the first time this season. Bringing 160 travelers and a welcomed boost to the local economy.

The ship is making it’s way across the Mississippi River from New Orleans, welcoming travelers and allowing them to discover what Cape Girardeau, Missouri has to offer.

Brenda Newbern the director of visit Cape’s park and recreation group says the impact of making a positive impression on these visitors can leave a lasting mark on the cities future. “That is the key to the importance. If you look at anything in all of the statistics, I tell you that the first thing people need to do is just know who you are” says Newbern.

The American Melody ship will be docked in Cape Girardeau until 7 pm tonight.
