American Red Cross experiencing blood shortage

(KBSI) – A decrease in blood donations has caused a blood shortage.

The regional executive officer for the American Red Cross says they’ve seen a decrease in donations partly due to several weather-related disasters and because they generally see less donations in the summer.

“A blood donation very simply saves lives and it’s so easy to do,” said Regional Executive Officer for the American Red Cross Steve Cunanan. “The actual blood donation process only takes about 10 minutes. I realize you have to make an appointment, and you have to do other things but it’s easy to save a life. This is arguable the easiest thing you can do to save someone’s life and you can do it today.”
