American Red Cross partners with NFL to give away Super Bowl tickets

Red Cross Partners With Nfl

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The American Red Cross is facing a blood shortage.

“Just in January, we’ve had to cancel 265 drives, which has led to nearly 8,000 units not being collected,” American Red Cross of Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas Executive Director Micheal Sullivan said.

To help fill that need for blood, the Red Cross is encouraging people to roll up their sleeves and donate, and by doing so in the month of January, donors will be automatically entered to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LVIII.

Sullivan anticipates this partnership with the NFL will only help curb the blood shortage.

“I think it’s going to come off great. I think it’s just another opportunity of hey, you’re not only giving back to your community and help possibly a neighbor, but you’re also getting the chance to win something, an experience for yourself, which I think is really neat,” he said.

And as Sullivan reiterated, the need for blood never stops.

“I think it just elevates the awareness and the need for blood,” he said. “It’s something that can’t be reproduced or created in a factory, so it takes donors to roll up their sleeves and give.”
