American Red Cross to host disaster response training for new volunteers

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – The American Red Cross of Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas are seeking new volunteers to join its Disaster Action Team (DAT) and will host a training session this weekend for those interested in helping their communities during emergencies.
The training will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Red Cross chapter office, 20 S. Mount Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau. Lunch will be provided.
Disaster Action Team volunteers provide on-the-ground assistance and comfort to individuals and families affected by emergencies such as home fires, floods, and tornadoes. The upcoming training is open to residents of Cape Girardeau and surrounding counties who want to learn how to respond to local disasters.
