MARION, Ill. (KBSI) – The owners of Anderson’s Family of Stores are partnering with Marion Unit 2 elementary schools and the Marion Ministerial Alliance to help families in need during the holiday season.
Lowell and Michelle Anderson plan to provide Kroger gift cards to 100 families in the Marion Unit 2 School District to help cover the cost of Thanksgiving meals.
The gift cards will be distributed Thursday, Nov. 5, at 9:30 a.m. at Lincoln School in Marion.
The effort is being coordinated with Lincoln Elementary Principal Tom Roper to identify families across the district’s five elementary schools.
“My wife Michelle and I have been very blessed over the years, and we want to pass on our blessings in hopes that these families can experience some peace of mind and happiness that food can provide for their families this holiday season,” Lowell Anderson said.
The Andersons have also pledged a $1,200 donation to the Marion Ministerial Alliance to help fund 150 Christmas dinner food boxes for individuals and families facing financial hardship.
A check presentation is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at the Marion Ministerial Alliance.
The Andersons said they hope the donations will provide relief and comfort to local families during the holidays.
