Andy McGill named next superintendent of Sikeston Public Schools

SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — The Sikeston R-6 Board of Education has announced the hiring of Andy McGill as the district’s next superintendent.

McGill will officially assume the role July 1, 2026.

McGill brings 21 years of experience in education, including 19 years with the Sikeston R-6 School District. District officials said he has been a strong advocate for students, a collaborative leader for staff and a committed partner to the community.

The board said McGill’s familiarity with the district’s strengths, challenges and long-term goals positions him well to lead Sikeston schools into the future.

As superintendent, McGill will continue ongoing initiatives while supporting academic excellence, maintaining a positive school culture and expanding opportunities for student success, according to the board.

The Sikeston R-6 Board of Education said it is confident in McGill’s leadership and looks forward to the stability and vision he will bring to the district.
