Anna Veterans home postpones volunteer fair after the facility experiences COVID outbreak

ANNA, Ill. (KBSI) – The Anna Veterans home has chosen to postpone its volunteer fair due to a rise in COVID-19 cases within the facility.

The volunteer fair was scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

As of October 7th, five residents and three staff are COVID-19 positive and are experiencing mild symptoms.

The veteran’s home has implemented infectious control guidelines for longterm care recommended by the CDC to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Increased testing during the outbreak has also been established for residents and staff.

The volunteer fair will be rescheduled when the Home is no longer in outbreak (two or more cases) status and the Home can safely welcome visitors.

The veteran’s home relies on volunteers to offer residents programs and events to contribute to the wellbeing and way of life of residents.
