CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. (KBSI) – Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Foundation held its annual spaghetti day fundraiser at the A.C. Brase Arena.

The foundation’s fundraising goal for this year is $40,000.

Recreation division manager said the the event — that’s been running for nearly three decades — gives board and staff members a chance to work together towards a common goal and raises needed funds for the foundation.

“One of the best things about this event for us with spaghetti day, is the chance to see families and business people come out and join us for lunch, and families coming out for dinner and just seeing the whole community,” Williams said. “We’ll serve over 3000 people today.”

Williams said the money raised goes right back to parks and recreation, helping fund things like shelters, playgrounds, and equipment purchases.
