Anonymous tip leads to recovery of stolen ATV in Franklin County
BENTON, Ill., (KBSI) — A stolen ATV has been recovered and a Franklin County man arrested after an anonymous tip led deputies to the vehicle, authorities said.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said a rural Benton resident reported their Honda four-wheeler stolen Aug. 19. Early Wednesday, deputies received an anonymous tip through the sheriff’s mobile app that included suspect information and a possible location in Orient.
Deputies responded to the residence and recovered the ATV. Drew J. Bowers, 27, of Orient, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, a Class 2 felony.
Sheriff Kyle Bacon said the public’s assistance was key to the investigation. “It is our belief that a strong relationship with the public is vital in both preventing and solving crime in our communities,” he said.
