PADUCAH, Ky. (KBSI) – The executive director of the Paducah Convention & Visitors Bureau passed away.

Mary Hammond served the community in multiple roles including executive director of the Paducah Convention & Visitors Bureau, member of the Paducah Civic Beautification Board, and Paducah Ambassador.

“I am saddened by the passing of our friend Mary Hammond, Executive Director of the Paducah Convention & Visitors Bureau. Mary lived and breathed the City of Paducah, Kentucky. She dedicated her entire life to promoting Paducah and performed that function on our behalf all over the world. One of Paducah’s original architects and primary advocate of the UNESCO Creative Cities designation, Mary brought Paducah to the rest of the world and brought the rest of the world to Paducah. While Paducah will eventually find another executive director for the Convention & Visitors Bureau, it will be difficult to replace the passion she demonstrated or the manner in which she represented our community. The City of Paducah extends our deepest condolences to her family and many friends,” said Paducah Mayor George Bray.

Final arrangements have been made to honor her life at Grace Episcopal Church of Paducah.

Visitation is Friday, March 8 from 9-11 a.m.
