Arson investigation underway in Puxico fire
PUXICO, Mo., (KBSI) — Authorities are investigating a February fire that destroyed multiple businesses in downtown Puxico as arson.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office said the Feb. 22 fire at “The Midway” building on East Richardarson Avenue is being probed by the ATF and the Division of Public Safety.
The cause of the fire and the reason investigators believe it was arson have not been released.
More than a dozen fire departments responded to the blaze, which the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office said devastated much of the downtown area.
The fire destroyed several businesses, including the Puxico Weekly Press and an insurance office.
