Arts Council of Southeast Missouri names new executive director

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri has named Kate Cooper as its new executive director.

Cooper, a local artist whose murals and sculptures are featured throughout Cape Girardeau, brings a background in the arts and community engagement, according to the organization’s board of directors.

Board members said Cooper’s connection to the region and collaborative approach will help guide the organization’s next phase of growth.

The Arts Council also recognized the contributions of its staff, artists and volunteers for building a strong foundation for the organization.

A public reception to welcome Cooper is scheduled for May 1 in conjunction with First Friday.
