Asbestos detected at Perryville High School after tornado damage

PERRYVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) – Perry County School District 32 officials say asbestos has been detected in parts of Perryville High School, which was heavily damaged in the March 14 tornado.

As expected, given the building’s 1950s construction, some areas tested positive for asbestos, according to district officials. Additional testing was conducted Friday, and results are pending.

Perryville High School, Perry County Middle School and surrounding grounds remain closed due to safety concerns.
