Assisted living facility catches fire in Kennett

KENNETT, Mo. (KBSI) – A fire broke out at an assisted living facility in Kennett forcing residents to temporarily relocate.
According to the Kennett Fire Department around 11:00 am, on Monday December 2, 2024, the Kennett Fire Department responded to a fire alarm activation at an assisted living facility located at 614 South Bypass.
After arriving responding units saw smoke coming from the facility.
For safety protocols, the residents of the facility were quickly evacuated and relocated to a neighboring facility to ensure their comfort and well-being, especially given the cold temperatures.
After investigation, it was determined that the fire started in the HVAC system.
The fire was extinguished by the responding personnel, and measures were taken to safely remove the smoke from the facility.
Once the environment was deemed safe, residents were able to return to the building.
No injuries have been reported at this time.
