Authorities investigate shooting in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department responded Friday afternoon to the 1000 block of Locust Street to assist another agency.
Dispatchers advised that troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol were at the location attempting to serve an arrest warrant.
During the encounter, troopers reported that a single shot was fired. A preliminary investigation indicates the gunshot wound was self-inflicted by the suspect.
The suspect was transported by medical personnel to an area hospital for treatment.
The Cape Girardeau Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is overseeing the investigation.
