Authorities warn of scam involving fake payment requests

FULTON COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam involving fraudulent requests for money.

Officials said scammers are posing as law enforcement and asking for payments through email or text messages.

The sheriff’s office and Kentucky State Police do not collect funds in this manner, officials said.

Residents are advised not to send money or share personal information and to report any suspicious messages to local law enforcement.
